Synopsis

Florent-Emilio Siri’s “Elyas” is a gripping action thriller that follows the story of Elyas, a former Special Forces soldier haunted by his past experiences in Afghanistan. Now living a solitary life, Elyas is hired to protect Amina and her 13-year-old daughter, Nour, who have come from the Middle East for a holiday.

As Elyas settles into his role, he senses something amiss. His paranoia, fueled by his past trauma, makes him question the motives of those around him. Are his fellow security guards playing a double game? Who are the mysterious individuals lurking near the property? Is it all just his imagination?

Under immense pressure, Elyas struggles to keep his inner demons at bay. However, when danger strikes, he is forced to confront his fears and become the formidable warrior he once was.

Roschdy Zem delivers a powerful performance as Elyas, capturing the character’s vulnerability and inner turmoil. Laëtitia Eïdo and Jeanne Michel also shine as Amina and Nour, respectively.

Siri’s direction is taut and suspenseful, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats. The action sequences are well-executed and realistic, adding to the film’s intensity.

“Elyas” is more than just an action film, though. It also explores themes of trauma, paranoia, and redemption. Elyas’s journey is not just about physical battles but also about confronting his inner demons and finding a way to heal.

Overall, “Elyas” is a compelling and thought-provoking thriller that will leave you breathless. With its strong performances, skillful direction, and timely themes, it’s a must-see for fans of the genre.
